The Scouts had an evening of 1st Aid hosted by Mel (Penny’s Mum) and Penny herself who is proficient in her 1st Aid skills.
The Scouts learned how to perform CPR, the Recovery Position and how to use a Defibrillator. Certainly #lifeskills everyone should know.
Thank you to Mel and Penny for running the evening and we hope that these skills can save a life when the need arrises.
Thank you to all of the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers that attended the parade to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
Well done to the flag bearers who did a fantastic job!
The Scout Troop Summer Camp took place in a Farmers field near Bovey Tracey in Devon for 9 days.
We had fantastic weather for the most part. The last few days had set in rain which did make for a hard time packing up.
The Scouts camped in patrols and were self sufficient in catering for themselves over wood fires.
Quite a few of our younger Scouts attending and did an amazing job. Overall, it was an amazing camp.
Some pictures of the campsite showing in and around the site.
The Scouts climbed and abseiled with DartRock at their indoor climbing wall.
The Scouts took part in Caving with DartRock.
Something new this year with Rafting/Coasteering.
The Scouts and Leaders went Hawking and flew a wide range of birds of prey. However, due to the rain and strong winds the session was cut short.
Although, still a very enjoyable afternoon.
Kayaking and Paddle Boarding
The Scouts went Kayaking and Paddle boarding in a lake. A fun filled afternoon with most of the Scouts in the water rather than on boats.
The Cubs and Scouts went to Youlbury in Oxford for their Activity camp in June.
We were lucky to have glorious sunshine for most of the weekend. The Cubs and Scouts took part in Abseiling, Climbing Wall, Archery and Shooting.
For many of the Cubs it was their first time taking part in Archery and Shooting and they did very well.
