Scouts Summer Camp – Bovey Tracey- 2018

The Scout Troop Summer Camp took place in a Farmers field near Bovey Tracey in Devon for 9 days.
We had fantastic weather for the most part. The last few days had set in rain which did make for a hard time packing up.

The Scouts camped in patrols and were self sufficient in catering for themselves over wood fires.

Quite a few of our younger Scouts attending and did an amazing job. Overall, it was an amazing camp.

Campsite
Some pictures of the campsite showing in and around the site.

Climbing
The Scouts climbed and abseiled with DartRock at their indoor climbing wall.

Caving
The Scouts took part in Caving with DartRock.

Raft Coasteering
Something new this year with Rafting/Coasteering.

Hawking
The Scouts and Leaders went Hawking and flew a wide range of birds of prey. However, due to the rain and strong winds the session was cut short.
Although, still a very enjoyable afternoon.

Kayaking and Paddle Boarding
The Scouts went Kayaking and Paddle boarding in a lake. A fun filled afternoon with most of the Scouts in the water rather than on boats.

Cubs Summer Camp

Our annual Cub Camp this year was held at Downe Scout Activity Centre.

We had a fantastic time taking part in activities like Aerial runway, Archery and Crate Stacking. We got to build on and use a number of skills that we have been working on throughout the year, and we were able to demonstrate those skills, especially our ability to work as a team. We had great weather for camp, but we were glad of the shade and coolness that camping amongst the trees gave us.

A big thank you to all the volunteers that helped with camp, and I hope you enjoyed the activities too!

Bazzaz 2018

Bazzaz comes around every 3 years and this time we saw the Surrey Rainbows joining the Surrey Beavers in a day of fun and activities at Merrist Wood College. Around 2500 attended the fun day. 2nd Molesey Beavers had 20 there for the day and all had a great time with the sun shining down on them all.

There were a few hundred activities to choose from mostly based on the theme of ‘Animal Magic’ including climbing, inflatable assault courses, crafts, lazer quest, trampolines and so much more. Make sure you reserve a place for the next Bazzaz in 2021!
